Ok
its time for Deepthought, you’ll recall Deepthought was the greatest ever
computer who thought of a system to come after him whose parameters he was not
worthy to contemplate. That’s where my late entry comes from and why it stands
alone in all other systems. Considering serious commerce started in Deptford
with the formation of the company, four hundred years later another little
spark in Deptford has combined two technologies to produce a new system. The
premise is this, imagine you had some plan or project that involved you
managing money to reach the stage where you can realise that plan or project.
Now here’s the leap of space-time and mood that you really must make now and
leave this computer quite soon to go and have a drink with some friends. It’s
very simple, the odds are you will take your mobile phone (cell phone) with you
and cash, even a charge card if you are one of those wealthy types. The system
just allows you to key in the amount you spent on drinks into you mobile phone.
Kecost.com ensures it’ll be in a spreadsheet for you on your PC when you get
home. As keying in numbers is what we do quite a lot of the time it’s not too
much of a change of lifestyle to key in the cost of the drinks. In fact key in
the cost of anything else you choose and assign it to categories of your own
making Case made I hope, the site name is keycost.com The two technologies
combined are the mobile phone and the web. The significance of the system is
the demonstration of the combined technologies to enable the first commercial
scale mobile devices we carry to record transactions of our own money. It alows
thousands of individuals from anywhere, anytime to better manage their money.
It allows them to do this by piggy backing on the availablity and use of
mobiles and see the results on their PC. To complete the references and pay due
acknowledgement, when I heard Bill Gates say they, Microsoft, had reached a
holy grail with his latest developers software called .NET (pronounced DotNet).
I subsequently learned that Microsoft had internally called the .NET project,
Project-42. For my part I also wanted a stupid little name that everyone would
remember, WEBICA.NET was my inspiration, combining the WEB and .NET and where
the ICA has relevent meanings as you’ll see if you visit my site.
View videos of using keycost on your mobile. Currently requires RealOne Player
(free). N.B. Not the free trial, but the free player at the
bottom of their homepage. Clicking above will load a seperate earlier
web application. Once it does do a search on the tile word Key and you
will see around 5 results. These are of differing quality meant for
differing 'connection speeds', from normal home modems
to broadband quality.
